And The Winners Are…..

That was a fast two weeks! And after much discussion over 90 Minute IPA beers and Silly Girls Drinks, we have chosen the winners!

Our First place winner, and proud owner of 5 shiny new keys, is Tiomasta with his recaption of a post we lazily made using a joke that has been beaten into oblivion by gamers, forum goers, and the general population for the past several years. When we made the original post we completely overlooked the flames coming from Ze Goggles that seem to be flowing directly into the heavy, fueling his “Angry Face.” The reference to the most annoying commercial in history is a nice touch as well! The new caption looks a little something like this:

Our 2nd place winner is This…IS…BACON! with his recaption of this poorly voted killcam. The original is actually not too bad of a killcam. There’s fire, there’s a man, and there’s a sword. I mean, these three things can inspire some funny reference or perhaps a tale of bravery. However, it looks like this entrant into our “Hit us with your best Killshot” contest missed the mark with his title and caption. This…IS…BACON! stepped up to the plate and made a funny reference ABOUT a tale of bravery!

And in 3rd place we have long time visitor Sir Raffi’s re-caption of this mess of a user-submitted title and caption. Making much more sense out of a semi-decent killcam, we have the following re-caption:

It’s time for a new contest here at TF2Killcams.com! The Recaption Contest!

Let’s face it, since this site’s humble beginnings, not all of our posts have been winners. Maybe it was writer’s block, maybe we felt more people would understand the joke, or maybe we made the posts while tanked*

*It was HILARIOUS at the time, trust me.

Anyhow, now is your chance to make a bad post a good post and have the chance to win keys in the process.

The Rules:

Go through our archives and locate a killcam that has more than 3 negative votes and think of a new Title and Description for the killcam that you feel would make it better.
Send us an email at submit@tf2killcams.com with the subject Recaption Contest.
Include the link to the original post, the new title, and the new caption in your email.
Tell us your Steam ID so we can contact you if you win.
One entry per person.

The Prizes:
First Place: 5 Keys
Second Place: 3 Keys
Third Place: 1 Key

You have until Friday, April 20th @ 11:59pm EST to submit your entry. We will then judge the entries and announce the winners.

The voting deadline is now over, the votes have been tallied, and the viewers of this site have chosen their winners! We had over 180 entrants to this contest and had a lot of fun looking at all the great submissions to our site! Now, the time to unveil the winners is upon us.

This killcam, titled “My Ass is Burning!” did not place in the top 3 for total vote count, but is an honorable mention because it made me (Potemkin Buster) laugh for 3 straight minutes after looking at it for the first time.

HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST KILLSHOT CONTEST SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS OVER

Hello TF2Killcams.com viewers!

It’s been a hectic two weeks since starting the contest, but the submission deadline has been reached and the contest killcams should all be posted! Congratulations to everyone who successfully entered the killcam competition! If you entered the contest and you don’t see your killcam posted, it is for one of four reasons.

Failure to follow the contest rules as outlined in this post.
The submission was deemed offensive (there were very few of these, and it was due to the title or description being considered racist in nature.)
Poor image resolution or corrupt image files were submitted.
Your killcam entry was received after the contest submission deadline.

With that said, we have over 180 killcams posted for everyone to vote on. For the posts that did not follow the guidelines for the contest, we will use them for future updates and give credit to the submitters.

Entrants: IF THERE IS ANY MISTAKE ON YOUR POST OR WE CREDITED THE WRONG INDIVIDUAL, PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO admin@tf2killcams.com WITH A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE ERROR AND WE WILL CORRECT IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

This leads us to the following discussion:

How do we determine winners?

- Winners will be determined by the amount of “Thumbs Up” ratings they receive.

- Thumbs down ratings WILL NOT COUNT towards a killcam’s vote tally to deter excessive downvoting or the downvoting of the competition.

- The Killcam with the highest amount of “Thumbs Up” ratings that is flagged as being a CONTEST killcam at the Contest Deadline will be the winner! The same rule applies for killcams that have the second highest and third highest total of “Thumbs Up” ratings.

The voting deadline is SEPTEMBER 18 2011 AT 12:00 AM EST!!!!

Feel free to vote on as many contestant entries as you’d like! If there is any trickery afoot such as vote boosting etc. we have ways of detecting such activity. We know our traffic patterns and if we suspect vote boosting it could result in a disqualification for the suspected entry(ies)!

Once the winners have been chosen by the TF2Killcams.com viewers, we will contact them via Steam to notify them of their standing. We will also request their wish list for the Mann Co. Store! Wishlist purchases will be gifted to the winners through Steam once requests are submitted.
